Southern African dinner with friends

I had some friends over for dinner and I cooked a 3 course Southern African meal, that I must say went down a storm! Picture here is before my guests arrival. Thanks guys was a great night. I love this little halterneck dress with heavy beading around the bust and neckline. I bought this dress online from Goddiva. Not a well known shop but like I said I shop anywhere. If I tkink it looks good and and I can mix it up with accessories, shoes and so on, then it belongs in The Chakalaka Closet!

My AMAZING Victoria Falls trip and some of the clothes I wore.

Yes, my oversized hat! It was a great holiday essentail when I went to the Victoria Falls recently. Kept that fine water spray from drenching my hair!

Mosi-oa-Tunya- The smoke which thunders. This word comes from the Kololo or Lozi language. It referes to the way in which the water from the mighty falls, hits the gorge below thunderously, resulting in rising water sprays that drench you, hence why I have the raincoat and my trusty umbrella of a hat. The dress is a sleeveless tie and dye maxi with fringe detail from the knee down. I finished it off with a leather green belt by Karen Millen.

Sipping on my favourite cocktail....Cosmopolitan at the grand Victoria Falls Hotel.

Chilling at the poolside of The Elephant Hills Hotel.Victoria Falls. The fabric I have draped around me was given to me by a friend, initially to use an interior decorating piece. I now use it as a wrap around or a wrap dress held together with a funky brooch. The bikini I have on I bought in Harare in a tiny little boutique...love it!

Sunset cruise(aka 'booze cruise' by yours truly!) on the Zambezi river. An absolutely magical sunset to watch. I wore a chiffon burgandy dress with gold accessories and gold slippers.

Casual morning in ripped jeans and a tee, watching the game graze outside my hotel room...how incredible is that.

Curio shopping. Jeans and tee from TK Max.

Harem onesie from a vintage market in Norwich.

Proping up the bar in my maxi dress, so flowy and comfortable. One of my many buys from ASOS.

High low dress

I must say that when these dressess hit the high streets a while ago, I was not foaming at the mouth to bag one. Not sure why at the time, just were not initially drawn to them then. Anyway, I saw this black one I am wearing here on boohoo.com, and loved the thickness look of the fabric and decided to buy it.Well, I am happy to say that no regrets that I decided to get it, and being a nice thick fabric and black, I can dress it up or down with some gold or silver accessories and make it really rock.

My oversized hat....bring on summer!

I simply love this really wide brimmed hat. Its quite soft so flops over your shoulders and would be ideal to get the sun off your back, while lounging by the poolside or beach as you do. I got mine from this lovely hat shop in Beccles called 'Corriander'. I had been eyeing it like...forever, and am happy to say that it now graces the Chakalaka Closet!

Shoe crazy me!

Shoes glorious shoes... Yes that is my fetish on the fashion scene. Can never have enough shoes. Spotted these online the other day and these are definitely going to be a new addition to The Chakalaka Closet.
